In life, we sometimes act based on principles: some choose not to own a car, others embrace a vegan diet, some exclusively use free software, and a few opt for cash payments only. These decisions may cause some challenges, yet we persist because we firmly believe they hold significance.
To initiate change, we need more stubborn people. Their determination and beliefs turn dreams into reality. Thanks to their dedication, we have witnessed crucial progress in areas like human rights, gender equality, accessible education, free software, private communications, and much more. Yet, those who step outside the conventional boundaries are frequently labeled as eccentric.
Consider this: You start training with a new white belt who confidently declares, I'll be a world champion. Many may dismiss this as crazy talk, and often they'd be right. But occasionally, one of those kids defies expectations and becomes a champion, shifting everyone's beliefs. Suddenly, people claim they always knew that person had talent.
We should embrace our uniqueness, stubbornness, and authenticity. Those we love might impose their views on us, unintentionally stifling beautiful stories before they even start.
So dare to be annoying, speak your mind fearlessly, and stand by your principles. It won't be easy, and you might lose some connections. But if people can't accept your true thoughts, were they genuine friends in the first place?
